The following is partial list of volunteer opportunities that gardeners in The Ridge can take on in order to fulfill the obligations of participation in the Community Gardens program.
- Become involved on committees or The Ridge Community League Board
- Supervise/mentor summer student(s)
- Regular ice/rink/court maintenance
- Regular snow removal at The Ridge Community Centre
- Building/land maintenance on a regular basis ie. weekly mowing/whipper snipping of gardens &/or Ridge Community League licensed land
- Assist with community league work bees
- Structural maintenance or installations in the gardens (when required)
- Yearly pruning/weeding of beds
- Being an active member of the ‘Our Neighbourhood in Bloom’ committee
- Supervise Family Skate/warm-up room
- Fill water tanks when needed throughout gardening season
- Plant/maintain a pollinator bed or Food Bank bed when available
- Deliver produce donations to the Food Bank
- Volunteer at Ridge League events (assisting with seasonal events, spring cleaning of the centre, spring parks cleanup etc.)
- Participate in scheduled league work bees throughout the year
