Winter Prep Work Bee

Sat., October 17, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Have you and your family been enjoying the rink, basketball and pickleball courts?
Do you have a bit of time to spare on Oct 17th?
The Ridge Community League is having a work bee on Oct 17 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm to prepare our outdoor facilities for winter.

Work will include:

  • Put away pickleball nets
  • Remove basketball backboards
  • Rink Tasks
    • Repair rink chain link
    • Clean rink surface and caulk base
    • Replace missing bolts on rink boards
    • Check hockey nets
  • Landscaping Tasks
    • Spread black dirt and grass seed as required
    • Water trees
    • Cut grass inside snowbank rink
  • Warm-up Shack (“Galileo”) repairs

No experience necessary (minimum age of 15 years old)

If able, please bring:

  • Work gloves
  • Cordless drill/bits and/or a socket wrench/sockets
  • Screwdriver 

If you don’t have tools that’s ok!  We will supply. If you’re not free the entire time that’s ok! Even an hour or two is appreciated. To assist in planning, let us know you plan to come and help by sending an email to our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@theridgeonline.ca.

Come out, meet some neighbours and have some fun while helping keep our rink and courts safe and maintained!


Beer & Games Night!

The Ridge Centre Multi-Purpose Room

Come out to our annual Beer & Games Night, Saturday, October 24! It’s a chance to meet new people, visit with neighbours, learn a new board game, play Bingo, and have some fun!

Food is provided in your ticket price, but bring some cash for drinks. This is an 18 & over event. Tickets will be available at the door. The Ridge members: $5, non-members: $10. (cash only)


“Not Falling For You” Classes

Stability and Balance classes for Seniors

Coming in Fall 2026 / Co-hosted by Riverbend and The Ridge Community Leagues

Join us for this free 10-week, peer-led physical activity class designed for and by older adults (55+) to improve your mobility
and reduce your risk of falling.

Program Details

Dates: Tuesdays, October 6 to December 8
Time: 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
Location: The Ridge Community Centre, 2111 Haddow Dr NW

Cost: Free with valid Ridge or Riverbend Community League Membership
Requirements: Comfortable indoor shoes and a water bottle
Capacity: Limited to 15 participants
